The ultimate small world play made simple!

My boys have been OBSESSED with all things construction since the day they were born but even more so since Grandma and Poppy got them the coolest construction vehicles ever!

What better way to play with them than in a sensory activity?! And might I add… edible sensory set up!!!

For this activity we used:

This was quite literally the easiest set up (mainly because most pieces were already out in this weeks toy rotation).

Some of our favorite construction books:

My reminder to you: Sensory play is PLAY!!!

Don’t stress about it being beautiful, perfect, or full of small details. It should be fun, messy, and an outlet for your kids! Kids learn through play. If you don’t add specific educational elements, who cares!!! They learn from exploring, destroying, and solving problems!

My posts are far from perfect and are definitely not what some would call instagram worthy. But I try to share that learning through play is beneficial despite what it might look like on social media. This bin didn’t take me hours to set up. It took 3 minutes. The boys didn’t have to pretend to play with it for pictures. They got right into their play and demolition because they wanted to and never stopped!

I have recently added a learning experience to their activities but that is my choice. It doesn’t mean you have to too! Do what works best for you and your kids!

These toddler fact sheets I created are perfect for engagement, discussion, and continued learning. Download a page, print it out, laminate it (if you want it to last a long time) and keep a collection of fun facts for your littles! Keep it simple!

Give this sensory set up a try and contact me to let me know how it goes. Remember, simple is superior! Don’t feel overwhelmed with perfection. Find something your children are interested in, and throw things in a bin for them to play with! They will love it. And you will too- talk about having some free time for a few minutes in your day!
